Live Edge, Black Walnut Side Table

$0.00
sold out

I really, REALLY love live edge furniture. I bought this slab, or cookie - as it’s referred to in the wood world - 3 or 4 years ago with the intentions of making a coffee table for myself. But as is often the case, we do for others and not for ourselves, and thus this beauty sat to the side and languished. The underside had numerous splits and cracks, requiring 7 bowtie inlays to stabilize. Eventually, however, I did get everything cleaned up, sealed, and protected with a ceramic top coat.

I needed to build a base but just couldn’t find the time or effort to get it done. And in truth, I began to think I would sell the table top. I have two cats and recoiled at the thought of them scratching this beautiful piece. However, after recovering from an injury and having the time to reflect, I was determined to get it done and do it for me. Made from a beautifully figured slab of curly walnut, this base took a lot of planning and skill to create. The legs reach upward at a 110° angle, and the base connects via half-lap joints, allowing for complete disassembly if necessary.

I am so, so happy to finally have this table in my home.
